A visit to Huella Verde Lodge is a journey to a magical place where the beauty and diversity of tropical nature delight the senses, our hospitality makes you feel like part of the family and the outdoor adventures range from exhilarating to sublime. The lodge has comfortable bungalows and are nestled between a pristine wilderness reserve and the Bobonaza river. It is surrounded by tropical rainforest where colorful birds and butterflies flit through exuberant foliage and the songs of caciques and oropendolas complement the soothing sound of moving bamboo leafs.

As our guest, you will dine on inventive cuisine and exotic native dishes, fresh fruits and veggies, and scrumptious salads, accompanied with natural juices, sodas, or your favorite tropical libations. Everything at the lodge is prepared fresh and naturally each day, and will energize you to launch your rainforest experiences.

We offer a large variety of cocktails, spirits, wine, beer, soft drinks, juices as well as coffee, cappuccino, espresso, ristretto, tea and aromatic waters, téas.

Huella Verde exists today because of a Swiss Ecuadorean couple desire to make a difference. Never one to shy from a challenge, Christof Tononi and Dagmar Penaherrera bought a property on the spot and embarked on an adventure that continues to this day. The story of Huella Verde started way back in 2007. with Christof and Dagmar's dream of preserving nearly 50 hectares of endangered tropical forest and the multitude of species that call it home.  Through her unwavering devotion, Huella Verde is now one of the most accessible destination from Banos and Puyo, attracting for relax and nature enthusiasts from around the globe and shows the world of a sustainable approach to responsible tourism Our difference persists in be a small exclusive hotel with 2 private bungalows where the owners are pleased to receive the travelers as special guests.

Our friendly staff form the backbone of the Huella Verde lodge  experience, and are always available to cater to any special needs you may have. 

Our staff comprises mostly local people from nearby Kichwa communities so we continue contributing to the local economy, providing employment.  In times of globalization, this is especially important.

THE TOWN OF CANELOS

Oldest indigenous town in the Ecuadorean Amazon

Canelos Parish is the oldest of eastern Ecuador. It was founded around 1560 where the first Catholic mission has been implanted. Canelos is therefore the oldest Kichwa community of the province of Pastaza, located southeast of the city of Puyo. The name Canelos comes from the abundance of cinnamon trees, the same as for the period of conquest were exploited to bring the courts of Europe..

The crafts of the people of Canelos

The traditional pottery is part of the Kichwa tradition and is maintained by the village women’s. They make beautiful mocahuas, everyday dishes, and variety of pots and figurines.

Holiday Dates

The parrish festivities in November there are different activities such as canoe races, traditional games, etc.. and also celebrated “holiday of abundance” in the month of December, starting in the first week of the month. It's a unique place where the Catholic religion is mixed with the Kichwa customs.

 

OUR SERVICES

    Throughout the Lodge, 24-hour electricity is provided.

  3. PORTER SERVICE

    Huella Verde can provide a porter service for heavy luggages for an additional cost of $ 10.00 to $ 20.00 depending on the weight or amount of luggages.

  4. AMENITIES

    In your shower you will find dispensers soap and shampoo. Although all runoff water comes from the rain, we recommend the use of these amenities as an extra measure to protect the environment. You will also be provided with fresh towels each day on request.

  5. LAUDRY SERVICE

    Huella Verde now provides laundry service (washing and drying) for our guests. Please consult costs with our lodge administrator.

  6. RUBBER BOOTS

    Rubber boots are available for all of our guests at the Lodge, free of charge! (sizes 35 to 45).

  7. COMMUNICATION

    In case of emergency a landline phone communications are available from the lodge.

  8. FIRST AID

    We keep a complete first aid kit for any minor injuries or ailments you may experience. However, please take any special medications you might need with you. In case of a serious injury or illness, there is a local medical center located in Canelos.

  9. SECURITY

    At all times we have staff members on duty patrolling to keep the lodge and the surrounding environment safe.
